Background
In recent years, competition has intensified in the issuer and acquirer business handling credit and debit cards, driven by the diversification of payment methods and changing market needs. Consequently, it has become to achieve increasingly difficult for issuers and acquirers sufficient cost visualization independently using traditional cost management methods.
TIS is a systems integrator with strengths in the payment domain, holding approximately 50% of the domestic market share*2 in core credit card system development and over 80% of the domestic market share*3 in providing related services and system development for branded debit cards. Drawing on its longstanding role in supporting payment infrastructure, TIS has focused on the challenges issuers and acquirers face — namely, the "lack of visibility into revenue structures" — and has been exploring solutions through a new data-driven approach.
Torus is a Lithuanian startup founded in 2021. It has established market leadership by providing its “SaaS Analytics Platform,” a fee assessment service for international brand cards, and currently operates in 33 countries, primarily across Europe. As it expands its business, Torus has been selecting partners to support service delivery, with an eye toward entering the Asian region, including Japan.
Therefore, TIS and Torus have partnered to launch a "Revenue Improvement Support Service for Card Issuers and Acquirers" for the Japanese market.
