This spring, we participated in the European acquiring conference Merchant Payments Ecosystem 2025, held on March 18–20 in Berlin. This year, the conference was larger than ever: 1,450 attendees, 162 speakers, 430 merchants, along with acquirers, industry experts, and consultants from 50 countries.

On the first day of the conference, the MPE Startup Innovation Award competition took place, where we announced our new product — the Merchant Cost Indicator. It brings transparency to the card transaction market — now extending it to merchants.

This solution enables payment providers and merchants to estimate card transaction costs — including interchange and scheme fees — without needing access to transactional data.

Our CEO and co-founder, Kirill Lisitsyn, also delivered a presentation focused on transaction transparency, with particular emphasis on how lack of control over scheme fees often leads to financial losses.

Together with distinguished payments professionals — Mangala Martinus, Pavel Kaminsky, and Jeremy King — Torus joined a panel session on card payments innovations. The experts discussed innovations in card payments, scheme fee pricing, and the future of cards as a payment method.

“Massive networking, insightful sessions, competitive pitching, after hours — that’s what we all love #MPE for. It was great to meet our customers, old friends, and make new promising connections. Now it’s time to follow up on all the agreed next steps,” shared Kirill on his LinkedIn page.

For us, this was already our second MPE. On March 12, 2024, Torus won the MPE Startup Innovation Award outright.
